First Project
I finally started my first project . It will be a series of 1870's cars to go with the already large amount of rolling stock out there. However, since it is my first project I will require some help for the first couple of tries. I hope it goes well.
The things I MIGHT do.
36' and 30' Stock Car
36' Flat Car
36' Bulkhead Flat
36' Boxcar
40' Cupola Caboose
Wish me luck

Umm.. Maybe I should have mentioned these will be Standard guage.
But I will do some narrow guage cabesse, gondolas, flat cars and tankers.
I will also try to make anything I do industry interactive

Ya' know, I started a standard gauge caboose a while back, and if you want the GMAX files I could send them to you. Its a caboose whith the logging flavor, based on this one: http://www.trainmuseum.org/ once you are there click on this line of text: "Rehabilitation of White River Lumber Company caboose 001 completed - public tours on June 21 & 22" That will pull out a drop down menu with several photos and some info on the car.

Trainzsam, I love the caboose!
Can I have the GMAX files, please? I'll do the orginal and I might extend it and modify it to look like a Southern caboose at my museum, which is the same as bdaneals.

Ok, I sent it off yesterday, what do you think? by the way, I had UVW mapped each object but I removed the textures because I was using someone else's textures. You can just inore it.

Hey Smokey
Perhaps I forgot, since my advancing age has immediate FX on me,
which version of Trainz do you have ?? I'm only asking because if you have '06
we need to make sure the '04 boys can run your new roster. There is no
backwards compatibility if folks have the newer versions.

Re: First Project
I have TRS06 SP1. This indeed a bummer . How does one remedie this problem. I have also needed help with two things: 1. I want to create an angled box with a shape similair to a trapezoid to make a truck bolster. 2. I would like to know how to post screenshots of what I completed.

Re: First Project
No big deal on the '04 compatibility. "06 introduced a new format for config files, but it also supports the old format. Once you have something working in '06, we can help you adjust your config file for backwards compatibility.
For an angled box, I usually convert the box to an editable mesh, then move the verticies.
To post screenshots, click the 'upload attachment' tab below the edit window when entering a post. Then, browse to the picture on your computer. After uploading the picture, click on the 'place inline' button.
You should end up with something like the above.
Hope that helps!

Re: First Project
This helps a lot. If I can get some time later on I should be able to post a screenshot of what I have in Gmax.

Re: First Project
Glad you like it! I probably should have mentioned that it wasn't finished... Oh well, and I just remembered something, you should get involved with the porter project. Peter Pardoe-matthews (narrowgauge) will send you a little locomotive he made and you can modify it till your heart's content. The only problem is he is on vacation righ now, and may not be back for another month...
