I didn't know it was that cold.....

Post by Pencil »

Getting closer....
Running in TS2009 native mode; they still need a low lod, shadows, and a cab (and the enginespec still needs tweaking), but they're getting closer....

Nice looking Engines.

I like 'Carson' because the darker wheel spokes look better.

Nice. For 09 it doesn't look much different, boiler's just glossier! Still looks good! Now if only the 4-4-0s were updated...

Finished the shadows and the low LOD....
There are other enhancements also - the tender now has a normal map, and the engines have crosshead pumps.

Curtis
Even though I would love these in narrowgauge, I will have them in my collection of Old West
goodies just to say I own a couple of V&T antiques. I will run them ocassionally to keep the
fire alive and appreciate all the work you put in them.

I love it all.

They are evolving...

By the way, you might want to darken the base color of Virginia's boiler jacket. Carson's jacket looks pretty close. Russian iron is quite dark; I didn't hit the correct color until Eureka.
Cheers,

And evolving at a biological rate, also! ;)
Good catch on the boiler jacket color, Ben. I branched the skins a while back, and it looks like they got out of synch (the lower strip on Virginia's steam dome is also wrong).
I have a bunch more coloring feedback (more green, less black) from one of the V&T newsgroups, so I'll incorporate that over this week.

Here's with more green. Unfortunately, it looks like that wasn't the correct path. I've received more information - apparently, almost all the green should be red (wine).
I've also have a bunch of things to fix on the mesh :)
On a positive note, the enginespec is at least functional in cab mode now. I still need to test and likely adjust the fuel and water consumption, but at least it's mobile....

With the help of a script from ElDavo, the bell now animates when it rings! The script still needs to be a little more robust, but it's a good start!

I'm impressed Curtis
The shading of the deep red is absolutely, darned nice. It always impresses me
that this work can be a success when there is a script to be had and someone is able
to manipulate the working files so that animation occurs. I am anxious to see the
finished product as with all you've done.
More than anything, I honestly appreciate your work, no matter how long it takes.

Keep it up.

Thanks, Ken!

Here's a minor update. The cab windows were too low, and I painted the front drawbar the pilot color instead of leaving it unpainted metal.
I'm finishing up the bogey lods and working on the engine spec (had to relearn cab mode all over again!). That and a cab, and I think it's done!

Nice engine Pencil, I really like the engine. Been a long time since I posted here. Can't wait till the summer so I can get back to my projects myself.

This locomotive is (finally!!) available on the DLS. Please let me know if you have any issues with it :)
I'll add a link to downloads section of this site soon (TM), along with the source files (thank you, Ben!!)
