I just got back from Cass, W.V.
Hi all,
I just walked in the door from a 4 day stay at Cass and have a lot of vids to share. As soon as I can get them edited, I'll post everything I feel is valuable to all.

You could have said you were going there! (Unless I missed it).
Any info and pics are valuable to me of course!

Rick,
Ole Buddy, Ole Pal, we can share with the world. I went there almost this exact
same time last August and have my movies of being inside the #12 Shay.
That was one great trip and the countryside is gorgeous. We stayed three days.
I'm guessing we have a lot to share. Where did you stay ?

Re: I just got back from Cass, W.V.
Sorry, John, I really didn't want all of cyberspace to know I was going on vacation and leaving my apartment empty for a week.
Number 5 only ran on Saturday, which is when I got there and, I couldn't really get much footage as I was still checking in and finding my way around. There wasn't any access to it after that, unfortunately. It's my favorite, too, being the oldest one there, sorry.

Re: I just got back from Cass, W.V.
Ken,
I stayed in bungalow number 231.
I've got the interior of #11. Which broke down on us coming down the mountain, btw. Water started shooting out of the stack. No one really knew for sure what went wrong.
Hey, why don't you post here? Or, I can post at my site which is what I plan to do. I'm going to make a Cass page.
My shots are not tourists shots but modeler shots. Textures, sounds, straight-ons and the like.
Here's a direct link. I've started already...

Rick,
Very nice vids so far. Love the cab shots. I'd make #11 for TRS, but it requires a lot of figgiting with alignments, and without drawings, it's even harder.

Thanks, John. I'm happy with your #5, keep up the great work.
Ken,
We're limited to a 10 mb transfer through e-mail and here so, you're going to have to start your own web site after all if you want to share your stuff.

Re: I just got back from Cass, W.V.
Okay
I'll send a few to Image Shack and see what I can send as a few pics.
Shouldn't be 10mb and if that close, I'll send a few, then a few more
and so on......
I can send you a few to your site if you care to show them. I have a few
closeups of #4 pistons. Pretty nice, actually.
Thanks for the heads up

Nice, nice, nice!
I bought a new camcorder, $350, but closer to $500 with all the extra accessories. (I lost my older one in the fire...)

Re: I just got back from Cass, W.V.
Thankyou very much. I got a few more for 'ya.
Ken Trying to cook a meal . . . it's not working very well. . .
Ken is about to leave #4. I rode all the way up to Bald Knob in that cab.
I think my head had more cinders than hair. lolololololol
A stream-fed watertank at ground level. There's a pump near the engine tank that brings it in.
The overlook at Bald Knob. Quite a spectacular site. Everything was so pretty and green. Like it
had just rained and all was at full blossom. BTW, W.Va. gets real hot, too. The high was about
88* that day even on the mountain. Can't remember the altitude, seems like it was about
4400 to 48oo ft.
I also have a 45minute video of part of the trip up to Bald knob.
Rick, if you have room on your site I'll edit part of that trip down to 10mb if necessary.
Let me know.

Re: I just got back from Cass, W.V.
I have detailed video of that stove in the dinner car. I'll get it up in awhile for those who want to model it. I also have detailed video of the caboose stove in the gift shop.
I will post for ya, Ken, but I was trying to stay away from the 'tourist' type vids. Those can be found most all over the Internet. I'd prefer to keep them to a modeler's point of view.
I don't have all that much space.
I didn't take any vids of the mountains and the trees and scenery and such, my vids are mostly for modeling.
Did you get any video of that cab interior while riding up to Bald Knob??? Gee, that vid otta be 30 minutes long! I'll gladly pay the postage for that video and post that at my site...
Here's that same shot, Ken. I got 'em workin' in mine. LOLOLOL
