Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

Looking very good! I am not very clear on how backdrops work in Trainz. For our auto racing mods we would use a wall with the distant terrain on it. It basically had no lod distance (kind like the sky) and surrounded the entire track. If that kind of capability is in Trainz you could have the Coasta...

Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

Some interesting pictures there! It appears as though the SP repainting was rather uneven. I was interested to note some tenders had "SP of CAL" lettering and that the Russian Iron survived for some time before being painted over. I am not so sure that the Diana was converted to oil in tha...

Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

Well I've got good news and I've got bad news. It turns out I have a photo of the Ben Ely. :D The bad news is she doesn't match Curtis' 2-6-0s much. I was going to ask Curtis what the build numbers were but I thought to check his builder's plates and sure enough he had the numbers there and from the...

Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

"For intents and purposes their closest neighbor would be the D&RG 4-4-0s like D&RG #95 which is available on the DLS. The detail differences would be a "short" smokebox and a Radley-Hunter stack, everything else would be close enough." Since togog's D&RG #92 and his ...

Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

Have you looked at gary_hoorn's American 10? I haven't got it working in TS12 yet but it is a 10 wheeler perhaps a bit newer than you need. As for the Northern engines in the encyclopedia, I left out their narrow gauge stuff. They had 5 engines they inherited from the San Joaquin & Sierra Nevada...

Re: The Colusa & Lake (36ng) for Trainz

Sure, glad to help. The encyclopedia has most of a page dedicated to the Colusa & Lake Railroad Company I don't know how much, if any, of that information you may need. Mr. Robertson lists Poor's 1889, p. 887; 1889 California PUC report, p. 183; and Chico - The Weekly Butte Record - Oct 3, 1985 ...

Re: Central Pacfic Railway Company Named Engine Roster

I've integrated the cylinder data into the spreadsheet and the link is in the first post. I found several misspelled or misnamed engines that have been corrected, I am currently cross referencing the data in this spreadsheet with other railroad tables in the Encyclopedia of Western Railroad History ...

Re: Central Pacfic Railway Company Named Engine Roster

Oh thank you Curtis! I knew this site had to have an index but I searched and searched and could not find it. The condition of the records is more than a little scary though. Should be fun.

Some suggested loads for the gondola cars

Hi Curtis, I was fooling around with your gondola cars and thinking to myself that wood-chips were probably not a particularly likely load for the 1860-1910s. This lead me to wonder about the possibility of how much split/cut wood billets (aka fuel) would fit in one of the tall gondolas. While the f...

Re: The Lyon, Ormsby and Storey

The "Napa" was retained as the "Flea" by the Cal. P. when they took over the Napa valley road and was used as a maintence vehicle. It was apparently used by the Central Pacific when they got a hold of it and was used by the SJV on loan as pictured above. It is rumored to be burie...
